Some of My
Memories of Garden City
Nickel ice cream cones at Janet's--
Twirling on the bar stools‑‑
Ray pumping gas
The smell of the Hardware‑‑
Garvin walking up front to help you--
That hugh cash register,
Cam in his white apron cutting meat--
Splitting popsicles‑‑
Cranking out the store awning
(On a hot endless summer day--
How cool it felt under that awning)
Waiting all summer for the Fair‑‑
Then the awful feeling when it was over and
Summer was gone----
Russell at the Post Office
The juke Box at Johnson 's Cafe
Being a first grader in Mrs. Rollings class‑‑
The shoes she wore
Hearing the train whistle at night‑‑
and The Church Bell Sunday Morning
